Information for Candidates

Election Promotional Material

The City supports advertising to raise voter awareness and to encourage a high level of participation in the election.

Candidates are not permitted to use the City of Karratha logo or branding for promotional purposes during the election period. The City of Karratha must remain impartial and cannot be seen to be providing an endorsement to any candidate.

Candidates who use the City of Karratha logo or branding for promotional purposes will be required to remove any such material from circulation at their own cost.

Election Signage

The City’s Activities in Thoroughfares and Public Places and Trading Local Law 2017 requires a permit for all signage on public land, including election signage.

Candidates do not need to apply for their own permit to install election signage. The City will issue a generic permit to cover election signage for all candidates for the approved election period.

The installation of election signage on a thoroughfare or public place must adhere to the City’s PSIS 007 Election Signage guideline.

City officers are authorised to remove any election signage that does not comply with planning regulations, the City’s Local Law, its permit or the guideline.
