Waste and recycling collection
Weekly kerbside waste and a fortnightly recycling collection service are conducted by Cleanaway, on behalf of the City.
Check the collection calendar using your address to find kerbside pick up days.
On collection days, ensure your bin(s) are:
- placed kerbside by 6am
- weigh no more than 70kgs
- lids are closed
- face handles and wheels away from kerb
- spaced 50cm apart
Missed Bins

Lids and wheel repairs
If your bin has a damaged wheel or lid email karratha.operations@cleanaway.com.au
Request a replacement rubbish bin.
If you need a replacement bin, would like to apply for an additional bin or new service, or need to cancel a service, please complete the mobile garbage bin request form below.
Requests for additional bins, new services and cancellations must come from the ratepayer of the property or authorised representative.

What can I put in my general waste bin (green lid)
The following items can be placed in your green lidded bin for weekly collection:
- foam and polystyrene packaging
- food waste
- garden waste
- general household waste
- grass/lawn clippings (must be bagged)
- hygiene products
- nappies and dog waste
- soft/scrunchable plastics
- textiles
- UHT containers
The following items can be safely and freely disposed of at the 7 Mile Waste Facility:
- aerosols/pressurised containers
- asbestos
- batteries
- bricks, concrete, and other building materials
- chemicals
- fuel and oil
- garden hose and rope (unless cut into 50cm lengths)
- hot ashes
- lengths of steel or timber
- liquids
- medical waste
- paint
- steel cable
- unbagged lawn clippings
What can I put in my recycling bin (yellow lid)
The following items can be placed in your yellow lidded bin for fortnightly collection, please ensure recyclables are clean and un-bagged:
- paper
- cardboard
- hard/rigid plastic
- glass
- metal tins and cans
The following items can not be placed in household yellow bins:
- soft plastics
- textiles
- broken glass
- leftover food
- liquids
