A trio of respected Australian artists and curators will converge on the historic settlement of Cossack this month to participate in the prestigious City of Karratha Cossack Art Awards.
Perth based watercolour artist James Giddy will be joined by the renowned and unique David Spencer and award-winning Perth creative Sioux Tempestt.
James Giddy is a multidisciplinary artist who has gained recognition for his large-scale public art works both domestically and internationally and pays homage to contrast and composition.
Meanwhile North-West born David Spencer is unbound by approach or technique, he employs a range of material mediums and styles to achieve emotional depth.
Sioux Tempestt, sharing her positivity and energy for life, she has delivered 10 solo exhibitions creating creates abstract, mural, sculptural, digital art and more.
Judging will take place Wednesday, 19 July, winners of this years Cossack Art Awards to be announced Saturday, 22 July.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the Cossack Art Awards continue to attract accomplished artists with diverse backgrounds.
“I am very pleased to announce the judges for the 2023 Cossack Art Awards and look forward to seeing each judge bring their own unique artistic perspective to this year’s exhibition,” Cr Long said.
“The Cossack Art Awards remain a highlight of the West Australian cultural calendar, attracting the most talented artists from around the country.
“I have no doubt this year’s high calibre judging panel will have their work cut out for them as they consider the impressive standard of submissions entered by talented artists both locally and from across Australia.”
The Cossack Art Awards are presented by the City of Karratha with principal partner Rio Tinto.
