This year’s Red Earth Arts Festival will have a diverse range of entertainment to keep children engaged and entertained during the festivities.
The Red Earth Arts Festival runs from May 9-12 with a series of free and ticketed shows for people of all ages.
Kicking off the festival for the kids is the exciting and enthralling show The One Who Planted Trees, an inspirational story that proves just how much one person can do.
Other children’s highlights in the program include Hila Tells Stories – Stone Soup Magic which will leave audiences captivated with its music, imagination, and storytelling, as it takes viewers on a journey to explore valuable lessons about community, sharing, and being kind to one another; and Spike the Echidna, a remarkable shadow puppet show.
The West Australian Opera will also be performing their acclaimed Koolbardi wer Wardong (Magpie and the Crow), set on Noongar Boodja during the time of Creation, following the story of Koolbardi the Magpie and Wardong the Crow - two very proud, vain, jealous brothers.
A host of drop in activities for people of all ages are also on offer, including the Sun Runners interactive experience, silent story time, giant flower making workshops, community events with roving and live entertainment, and more.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said he was proud to have a diverse range of entertainment for children during the festival.
“Arts are such a vital part of our community and by having a wide range of shows for children to experience is the perfect way to get them interested in the arts world,” Cr Scott said.
“This year’s Red Earth Arts Festival has more than 70 free and ticketed shows, workshops and experiences suitable for children and adults of all ages, so I encourage everyone to come down and experience them.”
