The City of Karratha has appointed a CEO with Virginia Miltrup being selected at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
Mayor Long said that Ms Miltrup is a highly experienced business executive and not-for-profit company director.
She is currently the Executive Director Community & Business Services at the City of Vincent and has held senior Executive roles with the CBH Group, Synergy and Thomson Reuters (Asia Pacific).
She is the Board Chair of the philanthropy organisation 100 Women, regional arts organisation International Art Space, and is Deputy Chair of the disability services organisation Mosaic Community Care.
She holds a Master of Leadership and Management, a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
Ms Miltrup said the City of Karratha has an inspiring vision to be ‘Australia’s most liveable regional City’ and is recognised as a progressive Local Government.
She said ‘The Pilbara is a powerhouse of the West Australian and national economy, and the City of Karratha needs to advocate on behalf of the local community as this occurs. The labour, housing and supply chain challenges faced throughout Australia are amplified in regional centres. I believe my corporate and public sector experience will support continued collaboration with multi-nationals, Federal and State governments as we respond to these challenges.’

Mayor Peter Long stated that after a nationwide search for an appropriate replacement, Ms Miltrup was selected from a large and highly competitive field of candidates.
The new CEO will commence on 31st of October and replaces Chris Adams who has filled the role for nearly 10 years.
During the September and October period two members of the City’s Executive team, Phil Trestrail and Arron Minchin, will undertake the CEO role at various times.
