A new City of Karratha councillor has been voted in following the Extraordinary Election on Thursday 17 October.
A total of eight candidates contested for the vacant position with 2415 of ballots returned.
Jodie Swaffer was elected to serve a 12-month term after receiving 993 votes.
Ms Swaffer will be sworn in at the next Ordinary Council Meeting on Monday 28 October at 6pm.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said he was pleased to have Jodie Swaffer join the City of Karratha Council.
“It’s great to have Jodie join our Council and I look forward to working with them as we progress our goal of being Australia’s most liveable regional city,” Cr Scott said.
“Our Council has a wealth of knowledge and experience across many local sectors and will continue to work together to better our community.”
City of Karratha CEO Virginia Miltrup said she was looking forward to working with the new Councillor.
“It has been pleasing to see so many candidates put their hand up this election and this shows a clear desire from the community to be part of the team," Ms Miltrup said.
“Our vision is to be Australia’s most liveable regional city and I look forward to working with Jodie to achieve this dream and continue to develop and improve our City.”
