A series of advocacy statements that will be used to boost housing and health service outcomes in Karratha have been adopted by council.
Many of these liveability factors impacting our region are outside the domain of Local Government and require advocacy and collaboration with Federal and State Government, as well as industry.
To boost our ability to advocate, Council has adopted a series of position statements to provide a greater picture of the issues impacting the community.
These statements focus on housing reforms such as housing as Critical Economic Infrastructure, Fringe Benefit Tax Reform and Stamp Duty Relief on Insurance and Property Transfers.
Another focus area is access to Health Services and progress on the Step-Up Step-Down Facility in Karratha.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the initial advocacy position statements focused on housing and access to health services.
“As Mayor, along with the CEO, I regularly meet with all levels of government and industry,” Cr Scott said.
“These key advocacy position statements will help by providing stakeholders, Government, and industry with a deeper understanding of the vision, aspirations, priorities and challenges facing our community.
“Our advocacy statements and positions will continuously be expanded on based on feedback from the community so we can continue to serve and support residents.”
