Dan Sultan announced for NAIDOC Week concerts

Australian alternative rock icon Dan Sultan will headline and all-First Nations line-up for the City of Karratha’s NAIDOC Week concerts in Karratha and Roebourne.

The ARIA Music Award winner will be supported by South Summit, an exciting and high-energy band from Perth who bring a unique blend of rock and indigenous influences to the stage, and Karratha local Brodie Kenworthy.

The concerts will be held on Saturday 8 July as part of the City’s NAIDOC Week program.

Other program highlights include music workshops with the South Summit band, art activities for youth, flag raising ceremony and a movie screening of We Are Still Here at the Red Earth Arts Precinct.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the program was a showcase of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and their culture.

“NAIDOC Week is a fantastic way for people to immerse themselves in Indigenous culture, developing their understanding and experiencing the unique and special traditions of Indigenous Australians.

“The quality of activities and performers this year is again very high and we are always thrilled to present the community with such a talented and varied NAIDOC line up with something for everyone to enjoy.”

NAIDOC week celebrations are proudly presented by the City of Karratha, alongside principal partners Rio Tinto, Woodside, Pilbara Ports Authority and Santos.
