Locals called on to attend workshops to guide City’s Aged Care Needs Analysis

As part of the City’s goal to be Australia's most liveable regional City, it is important residents can call the region home throughout all stages of life.

Given this, the City of Karratha is hosting workshops to find out what locals are looking for to help them be able to live and retire in the City of Karratha.

In August 2021, the City endorsed its Aged Friendly Strategy 2021 – 2026 and as part of this strategy is coordinating a needs analysis which focusses on the current and future needs of our ageing community.

Held on March 13 and 14 at the Red Earth Arts Precinct and the Wickham Community Hub, the workshops will look at what locals need, or would need, to be able to retire in Karratha and surrounding areas.

The information is part of the City’s Aged Care Needs Analysis and will inform and guide short, medium and long-term actions for the City of Karratha.

Mayor Peter Long said the workshops will be hosted by ACIL Allen who have been engaged to conduct the analysis.

“We'd like our residents to be able to live, work and retire here, which means we need adequate aged care services, accommodation options and infrastructure,” Cr Long said.

“By focussing on where we are now, and what locals are needing to ensure they can retire in Karratha, we can better prepare our facilities and become Australia’s most liveable regional city.

“I encourage everyone who can attend to provide information at these workshops.”

Please rsvp for catering purposes, tea and coffee, along with a light food selection will be available at all workshops.
